Rancho Santa Fe Project: Low-budget Mid-Century Modern
objective
A mid-century modern style home was build new in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, as a casual, on-a-budget, family-oriented home. The kitchen required easy maintenance and accessibility for all family members, yet had to be well-designed, modern and sleek to integrate into the open living space.
design execution
Easy to maintain materials with a non-fussy look was achieved by using laminate-faced cabinets and countertops with integrated sinks from bulthaup, with aluminum and stainless steel, keeping things well within the budget. Yet, a sleek understated elegance is achieved well integrated into the rest of the home.
other areas designed
In keeping with the high-tech, high end materials of the modern home, the family concentrated only on the kitchen to make the statement, as the rest of the home was on a strict budget.
