Rancho Santa Fe Project: Modern Upgrade for a CA-Ranch Style
objective
Transformation of a sprawling California ranch style home into a more modern look is a challenge as older floor plans are somewhat tight and difficult to lend that modern spacious feel.
design execution
A mix of materials was employed, yet remaining clean-lined and understated. Glass, stainless steel, aluminum and a lacquered front finish on European cabinets give an interesting combination to a floor plan that wraps around a corner, opening up to the living area.
other areas designed
The fireplace facing the kitchen had to blend in better; a simple stainless steel surround was designed to create befitting simplicity. Sliding opaque glass doors, integrated into paneling surrounding the kitchen were designed to close off other living areas that did require to be open at all times.
