Del Mar Architects home project: Bauhaus Modern.
objective
The architect owners were concerned with completing and updating their signature look of clean-lined and modern approach of their self-designed home. The U-shaped kitchen was too confining and wanting to open up the floor plan to the living areas, required thinking outside the box.
design execution
bulthaup cabinetry of Germany was chosen to create a one-plane look using only few distinct materials: wood for the bar, black granite for work surfaces, and aluminum-faced cabinets, along with some glass. A wall was removed to create a more flowing elliptical shape to open up the flow.
other areas designed
A matching aluminum door was fitted for the walk-in pantry, giving it an overall integrated look.
